Map of United States of America - Green, computerized and angular. There are currently three US states that offer legal online gaming to its residents - Nevada, Delaware and Las Vegas.

There are certain elements (cough, Sheldon Adelson, cough) who are trying to take away the state's rights to offer online gambling to their residents by passing a federal ban on online gambling. Thankfully, there are many groups that are opposed to this and it doesn't look likely to happen anytime soon.

Of the three states mentioned above, only two offer online casino action.

The first state that offers online casinos to its residents is New Jersey. New Jersey probably has the most advanced online gaming industry of the three, as there are a number of deep-pocketed companies operating in the market, including Pokerstars.

Online casinos are a very big part of the revenue mix in New Jersey, and there are multiple options if you are looking to play some roulette or blackjack there. In order to get an account on the site, you need to either be a resident of New Jersey or visiting there (you will need to be actually physically located in the state, and they will use geo-targeting to make sure this is the case).

The other state that offers online casino games to its residents is Delaware.

Delaware has a player sharing agreement with Nevada for their poker offerings, though they also have companies active in the state that offer online blackjack, roulette and more.

Nevada, on the other hand, just allows companies to offer online poker for the time being. This has resulted in a market that has seen a tremendous amount of stagnation, as online casino revenues have flourished in New Jersey and Delaware.

Of course, regardless of where you live, you can always certainly travel to a brick-and-mortar casino and play your favourite table game there, though many people prefer the relative comfort of their own homes.
